About

Pickles & Puns.  Ever since marrying my best friend, a writer, poet, bartender extraordinaire, my life revolves mainly around these two things.  AND I LOVE IT.  This blog started as a way to keep track of our pickling adventures in Chicago. We lived just blocks from a market, where I could buy 5lbs of pickling cucumbers for $2.00. #mindblown. We pickled like crazy for about a year, zucchini, cucumbers, onions & jalapeƱos.  You name it, we probably put it in a jar and doused it in vinegar.

But then, life got busy planning a wedding, moving across the country, starting a new job, starting school (ha, not me, Phil) and getting a puppy.

Fast forward 2 years and here we are, a year into marriage & Montana.  We dearly miss our Chicago buddies and dream about the food experiences we shared on the daily. Sadly, when we up-sized our state we down-sized our pocketbooks, and can't afford our lavish foodie lifestyle.  But it’s ok, the kitchen has become our own ‘Last Best Place.’ It’s romantic, yet hectic, messy, yet magical and when you come over for dinner, chances are you’ll be sitting at our kitchen table drinking wine, while Philip and I dance around the kitchen in our aprons, choreographing dinner.

We’ve graduated from a pickle only blog to sort of a free for all, with a promise to return periodically to pickle posts, especially since my husband bathes in vinegar & uses pickle juice as mouth wash. Pickles are our bread and butter. Though we don't love bread and butter pickles.

*This is actually Suzy and John's table, and the food was made collectively.
